Initiated in 2019, the Malanda Christmas Street Festival has become an integral part of the Malanda events calendar. This festive celebration marks the launch of the town’s highly-anticipated Shop Local Campaign, extending from that evening until Christmas Eve. For one evening, English street in Malanda and part of Catherine Street leading into Eacham Memorial Gates Park is closed off to traffic. This area is then filled with food vans, market stalls, and entertainment to celebrate the start of the festive season and to launch the town's Shop Local campaign.

Shoppers who support the cause by spending at designated Chamber of Commerce businesses will be entered into a contest to win an array of vouchers from local stores. The grand prize is a staggering $1000 Spar voucher, ensuring that the holiday season kicks off with a bang for lucky shoppers.
